G Funk Classics Vol 1 and 2

Terrific Music From Nate Dogg

The G Funk Classics album with Nate Dogg

Released in 1998, the album of Nate Dogg G Funk Classics Vol 1 & 2 is really a very good compilation which has garnered many hip hop fans. Nate first came on the music scene on Warren G’s Regulate in’ 93 after which his intense rapping talent spread throughout the music industry very rapidly. Actually if he had not already signed a solo contract, Nate had planned to release his G Funk Classics, Vol 1 as early as 95’ and he would surely have become a major hit from that time onwards. Added to this, his somewhat disorderly legal problem at Death Row Records hindered the albums early release and was able to do so only around the summer of’98. Finally when it came out in the market, it already had two volumes and the timing was not that suitable as by now the G funk type was not really the in thing anymore. Infact had it been released as he had wanted to, it would have been a mega smash hit.

But despite the late release, the album is one real classic especially for the G funk genre. His fans consider this album as a rarity, a very valuable collection. This album is nothing like those mindless, jumpy people with ugly phrases that we come across sometimes in the hip hop industry. Rather this G Funk Classic Vol 1 & 2 is a very smooth collection of west coast music and Nate’s ultra jazzy voice really keeps in tune with the beat.
Once you start listening to these classic songs, you will feel kind of lighthearted and cheery. Especially for the G funk fans, this album with funky tracks is a must have. This album consisting of two disc cd’s, the first was infact released in ’97 but was not available in abundance. The songs have some great Nate Dogg’s voice, which also includes Scoopafly, Warren G, Daz Dillinger and LT Hutton, all of them contributing atleast a song or two. Scattered across this two disc’s, there are some very jazzy numbers, good to listen not only for the G funk folks but also for those new ones, it’s worth it.
