Prodigal Son

The Nate Dogg Album

The Prodigal Son album with Nate Dogg

Nate Dogg released another funky album titled The Prodigal Son in 2000. Compared to his other albums it lacks a little fire, still it’s satisfactory enough even for the toughest critic, which has plenty of Nate Doggs great soulful and harmonious vocals, added with some of the well crafted groovy G funk music. For hip hop fans it’s an excellent CD filled with variety and tunes that will certainly keep you going for hours.

Nate Dogg sure has a lot of lyrical talent up his sleeves which comes out in his songs. The album has some notable songs like Just another day and Friends which also features Snoop Dogg and Warren G and the beat will be well taken by all those hip hop, west coast music fans. There also include song titles like Dogg Pound Gangstaville, who’s playing’ games, Never too late and a few others. The album does feature some of the mega names of the hip hop, G funk collaborators like Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger and also Kurupt to add some rhymes. Well Nate Dogg certainly is capable of making any song exceptional with his unique voice .
Actually the album, The Prodical Son was supposed to have been released way back in 95 or 96. However his rather tumultuous period at Death Row Records and his differences with Suge Knight seemed to be the reason for the delayed release of this funky album. But then he soon started his own Dogg Foundation Records and saw the release of album Ghetto Preacher followed by the Prodical Son featuring all his Death Row Label mates which sure has some real winning songs. Though it lacks a certain polish as compared to his other albums with no major label marketing budget or sleek videos,it is a real good effort on the part of Nate Dogg. He’s that sort who’s just willing to work without recognition, wanting to let experience lead him and fortunately it all pays off for a good end. This album is sure a groovy one, a must have for the hip hop fans.
